Niagara Falls & Amy!

Ahhhh... the beautiful colors of Fall, I love it!!

My dear friend Amy has been out visiting us this week and we have loved every minute of her time and attention. It is so fun to watch her play with Hayden, sing to her, and watch Hayden coo, laugh and squeal at the things Amy does!



Hayden has picked up this weird trait lately where she will initially cry when there is a new person around her. I don't know why, she will shortly decide that I'm not giving her away to them or something and go back to being her normal self.

While Amy was here we took off for Niagara Falls for a few days because Amy had never been there. While we were gone enjoying ourselves, John is finishing up his last week of clinical rotations! He has worked so hard, working overtime, double shifts... all so he could finish early :) Desperation to be finished, yes, partly :) and also because he wanted enough time to study for boards in December. His program director hasn't given (and isn't planning to give) the students any time to study for boards so John is using all his vacation days and this extra time that he has built up by working extra shifts and Saturdays so that he can study. I'm really proud of him for working so hard, of course it is in his nature anyway. His clinical coordinator, Renee, told John on Wednesday that he could have Thursday off (yesterday) because he works harder "than anyone else here and you deserve it". This Saturday is his last shift-- its a doozy, 16 hours, he leaves at 4:30 a.m. and should get home around midnight. But.... then he's DONE! All he will have left until graduation are his classes on Fridays.

And he hasn't had the vacations that I've had over the past year, poor guy, he's pretty burned out, but happy to be seeing that light at the end of the tunnel -- it's getting brighter and brighter!! :)

On the way to Niagara Falls, we stopped at Lake Erie and played around in the sand. Hayden loved it!







Niagara Falls. Most of the pictures are ones that Amy took, she is a fabulous photographer (she took our engagement pictures) and I just got to enjoy the great pictures she took of us, well, of Hayden anyway :)





She's so funny, she has figured out that the black thing that people use as they're trying to get your attention is a camera. And she has decided that she LOVES cameras :)



I was a little hesitant about taking Hayden on the "Maid of the Mist" at Niagara Falls (its the boat that heads straight into the middle of the horseshoe of the falls, and you sit there in these rapids while the waterfalls thunder 220 degrees around you - its pretty amazing) but Hayden is showing us that she is a true adventurer -- she squealed and laughed and cooed to the delight of all the people around us.
