On the road to Greensburg PA

Road-trip day One: Feeling pretty good, we spend a good couple of hours talking about how great Utah is, all the great memories and how awesome Pennsylvania is going to be. We are driving to Denver tonight. We hit the weekend traffic coming down into Denver from the Rockies and drive no faster than 5 miles an hour for the next 2-3 hours. The book on tape #1 and #2 are both starting to get old at this point. :) About 10:30 p.m. we find an RV/Campground from GPS and pull off I-80 for the night.

Whatever you do in your life, no matter how badly the thrill of sleeping tugs at you, do not ever stay at an RV campground that is... at the end of a major airport runway. No joke. On top of the planes that landed 100 feet behind us, we also had blasting trains that ran by us every 30 minutes during the night and very safety-conscious like blasted thier horn to make sure no one would mistake thier arrival. Oh, and we didn't. The night manager at this place was very suspicious of us and reminded John and I of the old Scooby Doo episodes where the crazy amusement park manager was behind all the ghostly shenangans at the park. AND although one bunny rabbit is cute, when you step out of your car at 11 p.m. to set up your tent, and all of a sudden about 12 rabbits 3-10 feet away from you stop moving to stare at you... no longer you think they're cute. Suddenly, every weird horror movie from the 60's comes to your mind. That night I put in ear plugs, my Bose noise-canceling head phones and long socks tied around those... to no avail. Neither of us got any sleep.

Day Two: We had no idea that we should have been taking pictures of the pretty Rocky mountains because that was the last mountain we would see as we continued East. The rest of the day was completely FLAT. This is Ohio, or it could also be Nebraska, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa...

Day Three: Still no mountains. At this point we'd settle for a HILL. We did stop for a potty break but were unaccustomed to the "weird heavy and wet, yet hot air-like" environment, so we hurried back to our air-conditioned car and breathed in through the AC vents. Scary new world.

Day Four: After hours and days of nothing but corn fields and 18-wheelers we decided that we have enough corn to feed many many countries.

CHICAGO!
We seriously needed a break from the hours upon hours of semis and corn fields... so we stopped in Chicago for an extra day and wandered around the city. It was a wonderful 70 degrees with a light breeze! These pictures were taken at Millenium park... The faces on these gigantic ... ummm.... thingamajiggers are of people in the park and they blink and smile and eventually pucker up to....

I puckered up too. ;)

GREENSBURG, PA!

After 2 mad days of moving in and unpacking boxes non-stop.... we fell into a mass on the floor and wept. Well, o.k. we were slightly more graceful than that, but that is probably pretty close. We were EX-hausted.

The next pictures are taken of the road that leads to our new home. I know our families would be interested but honestly, if anyone else wants to check out now... I understand.

As you can see, its very pretty... lots of farm houses and trees.

Lots of rolling trees and country roads. Although just over the hills there are big shopping areas as well.

Here we are! Oakridge Estates. Home sweet home for the next 2 1/2 years!

We are the second on the right. As you can see, from the 2nd floor ... main living area... from all the windows in the front and back, all you can see are trees. John noticed how quiet it is. All you can hear are tons of different types of birds. It reminds us of Costa Rica a bit, we keep waiting to hear monkeys. :)

The stairs head down to the garage, laundry room and bathroom. Stairs going up head to the bedrooms. And to the right of the dining table is the kitchen. This room looks packed, but I still have stuff I need to find a place for and the room is really quite large, it just doesn't look like it in this picture.

This is looking from the dining room into the living room. The four windows keep things nice and light.

Master bedroom. Each of the rooms on this floor have these super high vaulted ceiling. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the space over the closets.

And last but not least, our guest room.... now all we need are the guests. :)

Everything is great so far! We met our new ward on Sunday and they are super friendly and very down to earth! And our neighbors are great. Sherman is this elderly black man who sits in his garage and reads the paper and listens to music, every morning so he's always available to chat. This morning I awoke to marching band music. :)
