Winter Storms

Well, keep in mind that the East coast doesn't get snow like the West. When we get more than 4 inches, the entire city and state shut down and newscasters are out braving the weather, shouting about how people need to stay indoors and there's a rush on survival supplies at the grocery stores. For people out West who routinely deal with feet of snow during the winter, it is fairly comical. But, for once, the forecasters were right and we really did get hammered with snow, not once but twice in a week. Within 24 hours we got over 2 feet of snow and lost power and electricity for about 16 hours. Before we determined which of us was going to have to be sacrificed for food first, the power came back on. :)





And in the picture below, is our new security system. It may look like ordinary icicles, but these suckers are 2 feet long and hanging right over our front door. Random strangers beware!!



In the midst of this huge snow storm, my mother in law was trying to make her way from Salt Lake to Pittsburgh. Her first flight happened to be canceled, as well as hundreds of other flights across the northeast, and her re-scheduled flight was due to arrive the first day of the SECOND blizzard. Fortunately, she arrived and is perfectly content holding little Hayden while she sleeps. :)
