Hayden's first Easter Egg Hunt
John and I had such fun hiding Easter eggs for Hayden and watching her find them. Once she got the picture of what was going down, she was so intensely focused on spotting more eggs. She knew that there was candy in them for her (m&ms's and Jr. Mints), but she was more intent with the "search and rescue" part of the task. :) We would give her a hint as to the general area she needed to search and she would haul her basket around as she peered under and over things.
There are a lot of things that I love about being a mother. So so many things. But, I love watching Hayden grow and learn the most of all. John and I just sat and watched her figure out how to pop open those eggs and get her candy and we just naturally thought she would stuff all the candy in her mouth. But, she didn't. She would meticulously open up one egg and then pick each candy out and then open another egg and then transfer all the candy from one egg to the other egg. One by one. Then she would try and walk a very full egg of m&m's over to us, all the while, dropping m&m's along the way... realize what she was doing, then sit down and carefully pick each dropped candy up again and put it in her egg. Then try again to come over and share a candy with us. She dropped candy and then put it back in again at least 7 or 8 times, each time exceedingly patient, until we showed her how to close the egg.
It just is so fascinating to me to watch her do something and see the unique way in which she does it. We sure love her! It was a great day.
P.S. With the house, everything is back on for a closing this Friday. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
